Information:   Howard Friend, 79, of Mt. Alto, died Tuesday at Jackson General Hospital after a two month illness.   He was born July 11, 1891, at Mt. Alto, the son of Jonas and Susan Turner Friend.  He was married to Clara Swan, December 12, 1922, and was a member of Cottageville AF and AM Lodge No. 54.   He had owned and operated a Sterling Service Station and General Store at Mt. Alto since 1936.   He is survived by his wife, Clara, and one brother, Roy Friend of Cottageville.   Services was held at the Casto Funeral Home with the Rev. Gary O. Smith officiating.  Burial was in Sand Hill Cemetery in Long Bottom, OH.
