Information: MRS MARY BAKER TAKEN BY DEATH Well Known Pioneer Sandyville Lady died Last Sunday: Was 87 Years Old. Funeral Held Tuesday Afternoon On Sunday afternoon the death angel invaded the little village and took away to dwell with God whom she loved so well, Mrs. Mary E. Baker, lovingly known as Grandma. She had been ill for the past two months, and not much hope had been held from the beginning of her illness for her recovery. So on Sunday afternoon, May 6, she passed away to the great reward and crown that is waiting for her in the Great Beyond. She was 87 years of age, and 75 of those years she had lived to serve the Lord and master. She was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church South, to which organization she remained a steadfast member until her demise. She was active in her church work, loving the organization second only to her religion. The deceased was one of the oldest members of this church, and 79 years of her life had been spent in Jackson County. At no time during her life did the deceased grow lukewarm in her love and faith which was characterized by an exemplary spirit. She was a devoted and loving mother, met the trials and troubles of life as only a beautiful Christian could. She counted no enemies among her acquaintances, but was beloved by all who knew her. To the members of her immediate family and her countless friends the entire community wishes to extend their most heartfelt sympathy in this their irreparable loss. Obituary will follow later. She is survived by three sons, Attorney John Baker of Spencer, Charles E. of Ravenswood and Jas. of Sandyville; three daughters, Mrs. Della Knotts of Columbus, Ohio, Mrs. Greek Spencer of Jacksonville, Fla., and Mrs. Nan La Blanc of Marietta, Ohio. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon and interment in Independence cemetery
