Information: Maxine ""Patty"" Fowler, 95, of Leon WV, passed away October 30, 2014, in the Ravenswood Care Center. She was born September 16, 1919 in Leon WV, a daughter of the late Hugh Jasper and Lilly (Shinn) Sayre. Her brothers, Troy, Brad, Jasper, King, Harry Blake, and Roy Walden Sayre, and sisters, Mabel Burdick, Imogene Rhodes, and Justine Sayre, also preceded her in death. Patty was a graduate of the University of Charleston and became an educator in the Mason County school system. She taught mostly at Mount Flower Elementary, Leon, and later retired as principal at Roosevelt Elementary in Leon. She enjoyed flower gardening, antiques, and she attended the Baden-Presbyterian Church, Leon. Survivors include her son, Lawrence ""Chip"" Fowler of Leon; daughter, Patty ""Tammy"" Fowler of Charleston; and a sister, Ferrell Mundy of Charleston. Service was 1 p.m. Monday, November 3, 2014 at Baden- Presbyterian Church on Route 87, Leon WV, with the Rev. Lawrence ""Chip"" Fowler officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Visitation was from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. Sunday at Casto Funeral Home, Evans WV. In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred to Baden-Presbyterian Church, 5475 Evans Road, Leon WV 25123.
