Obituary Date: 1937-04-30

Information: Rena (Shepherd) Flowers, daughter of William and Mary Shepherd, was born Feb. 27, 1885, and departed this life March 25, 1937, age 52 years and 26 days.  She was united in marriage Nov. 13, 1905 to Charley Flowers.  To this union was born two children; one daughter, Mrs. Cletis King of Evans and one son, Everette Flowers of Cottageville.  Besides her husband and two children and six grandchildren, she leaves four brothers:  Louis Shepherd of Copeland, Kansas, Norton Shepherd of Gary, Indiana, Daniel Shepherd of Wellsville, Ohio, Eric Shepherd of Charleston, and two sisters, Mrs. Minerva Lewis of Charleston and Mrs. Verna Lanier of Point Pleasant, and a host of friends and relatives to mourn their loss. Her parents, one brother and three sisters, preceded her to the great beyond.  She was converted and gave her heart to God about 20 years ago and joined the Antioch U. B. church and lived a consistent and devoted Christian life until the end.  She was also a member of the Antioch Ladies Aid of which she was an active worker.  She was of a kind and loving disposition and to know her was to love her.  She was a friend to all and an enemy to none.  Although she was long afflicted she was a patient sufferer.  All that loving hands could do was done but God saw fit to take her home, so Thursday morning her soul was set free from suffering and she went to be with God, whom she loved, but we know our loss is heaven's gain.  The funeral was held Friday afternoon at the Otterbein Church by Rev. J. C. Swain and the body was laid to rest in the cemetery to await the coming of Him that doeth all things well.
