Information: Ottie Rex Ayres was born July 22, 1891, and departed this life August 11, 1922, at his home at Evans, W. Va. He leaves to mourn his loss a father, three brothers, three sisters and a host of friends and companions;his mother and two brothers having preceded him to the great beyond. Rex was serving as postmaster at Evans at the time of his death. We always found him at his post of duty with a cheerful smile and always ready to lend a helping hand to others and always denying himself of the pleasures of this life that he might help those around him. When quite young he had the misfortune of falling from a bridge, injuring his hip which caused him many years of suffering and in the end cost him his young life. After he was confined to his bed he was surrounded by friends who did all in their power to relieve him of the pain which proved to be greater than he could bear. Rex was converted and joined the M. E. Church a number of years ago and lived a consistent christian unto death. When he was informed by one of his many friends that his time here on earth was short and that if he had any preparations to make he had better do so, his reply was ""I haven't a word to say, I am ready to go"" He was laid to rest at Otterbein, Sunday August 13 at 3 p.m.. The funeral service, held by the Sr. O.U.A.M., was touching, showing the respect they have for one of their deceased brothers. We wish to extend our sympathy to the bereaved family in the loss of a son and brother. Rex you are gone, but not dead only sleeping with the just, and we hope some day to meet you where pain and sorrow will be no more. A Friend.
