Information: DEATH CLAIMS FORMER SCHOOL BOARD MEMBER - F. D. ""Happy"" Austin, 78, of Given died June 19,1991, in Jackson General Hospital, Ripley, after a long illness.  He served on the Jackson County Board of Education for more than 20 years, including ten as president.  He was a member of the Soil Conservation Committee over 20 years.  He was an auctioneer and retired as a meat inspector for the State of West Virginia.  He was a member of Grasslick Baptist Church, Masonic Lodge No. 16 and Kenna Grange.  Surviving:  wife, Beulah Austin; adopted son, Fred Thomas of Columbus, Ohio; daughters, Helen Jean Parsons, Sharon Leigh Lanham, both of Given, Nancy Sue Randolph of Ripley; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.  Services were Saturday at Parsons Funeral Home, Ripley with the Rev. J. Chester Bird officiating.  Burial was in Jackson Memorial Gardens.
