Information: Beulah Gray Casto Austin, 83, of Given, died Wednesday, March 6, 2002, at Jackson General Hospital in Ripley, following a long illness. She was born June 8, 1918, in Jackson County, a daughter of the late James and Oda Stalnaker Casto. She was a homemaker, a member of the Kenna Grange, and was known across the state of West Virginia for her famous homemade pies. She was a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother. She was a Christian and a member of the Grasslick Baptist Church. She is survived by three daughters, Helen Jean Parsons of Given, Sharon Lanham of Ripley and Nancy Sue Randolph of Ripley; Fred Thomas, whom she and her late husband raised; one sister, Zula Harrison of Dunbar; eight grandchildren, Richard ""Ricky"" Parsons, F.W. ""Happy Joe"" Parsons, Resa Parsons Whittemore, Denesa Sharp, Cindy Reed, Rod Lanham, Michael Randolph and Austin Randolph; and 14 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, F. D. ""Happy"" Austin; and a sister, Velma Hayes. Funeral services will be held tomorrow (Sunday, March 10) at 2:00 p.m.at the Grasslick Baptist Church in Kenna, with Pastor Charles Bolen and Pastor Chester Bird officiating. Burial will be at Jackson Memory Gardens, near Cottageville. Friends may call today (Saturday,March 9) from 2:00 until 9:00 p.m. at Parsons-Waybright Funeral Home in Ripley, and one hour prior to the service on Sunday at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to the Grasslick Baptist Church Building Fund, Rt. 1, Box 158-A, Given, WV 25245.
