Information: CIRCLEVILLE, OH - Ora Ethel Ellis, 90, of Circleville OH, formerly of Statts Mill, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, June 15, 2006, at the Hubbard Hospice House, Charleston. She was born September 27, 1915, the daughter of James Henry and Rosetta (Pringle) Southall. She was a Christian in faith and attended Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Gay. She had been employed at Ames Baldwin in Parkersburg where she riveted the entrenching shovels for World War II. The ladies who riveted these shovels were known as ""Rosie the Riveters"" The United States Department of Interior has established a Rosie the Riveter/WWII Home Front National Historical Park in Richmond CA to honor these ladies for their home front effort during the war. Ora retired from the Columbus Bolt Works, Columbus, Ohio, and was also a homemaker. Survivors include her sister-in-law, Iolene Ellis of Altamont, IL, and several nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 55 years, Stanley; brothers, Howard, Holly, Body, Rolly and Arnal; and sisters, Addie, Bessie and Alma. Funeral services were held at 12 pm, June 17, 2006, at Vail Funeral Home in Ripley with the Rev. Phillip Scarberry officiating. Burial followed at the Fairplain Cemetery.
