Information: Mr. James Elliott died at his home beyond Salt Hill, Tuesday night, from cancer of the stomach, suffering much and his remains were laid to rest on his farm Wednesday afternoon, after a service by Rev. H. T. Watts, many of his neighbors and friends attesting their esteem by their attendance. He was 71 years old, came to this county from Greenbrier, served in the Confederate army, was married twice, first to Miss Pfost, daughter of the late Jonathan Pfost. Three children, Mr. Jonah B. Elliott, Mrs. N. U. G. Shinn and Miss Mary Elliott, survive as the result of this marriage. The second marriage was to Miss Crites, a son, Thomas, aged 30, is a child of this union. Deceased had been a widower many years. He was an honest, industrious, provident citizent, doing a good part by each of his children. Mountaineer 04/21/1911 Mr. James Elliot, one of Jackson County's well known and highly respected farmers, died at his home near Fairplain, Tuesday at 2 p.m., age 71. Stomach trouble from which he had suffered for years was the cause of death. Deceased is survived by two sons and two daughters, J. B. and Thomas Elliot, Mrs. N. U. G. (Nathan Ulysses Grant) Shinn and Miss Mary Elliot. The funeral was held from the home Wednesday at 2 p.m., Rev. H. T. Watts of the Methodist Episcopal Church, South, officiated.
