Information: One of the last of the pioneer citiznes of Staats Mills is dead at the age of 85 years.  She is Serepta J. Edwards, who died last Saturday after an illness of some length. The funeral services were held at Siniaville Church Monday and interment was in the church cemetery.  Serepta J. Edwards was born March 17, 1849 and died January 9, 1935, age 85 years, 10 months and 2 days.  She was a daughter of George and Susie Blessing.  She was united in marriage to Robert Thomas and to this union three children were born:  Mrs. Hattie Burnem of Racine, Ohio, John Thomas of Ripley, and Bob, who preceded her in death two years ago.  Mr. Thomas preceded her in death several years ago and she married David Edwards, and to this union 6 children were born:  Mrs. Mary Adams of Staats Mills; Okey Edwards of Frost, Ohio; Mrs. Ella Shafer of Elkview; Anna and Holly, at home.  The father and one son preceded her in death.  Surviving are two brothers, two sisters, 30 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.  She was converted at the age of 16 and united with the Baptist church.  She lived a faithful and devoted christian life until the end.  She was a kind and devoted wife and mother.
