Information: Michael Ray Durst, 60, of Cottageville WV, passed away October 10, 2014, in the Hubbard Hospice House, Charleston, following an extended illness.  He was born February 23, 1954, in Ripley WV, a son of Darrell R. and Dolores Mae (Shinn) Durst of Cottageville.  He was a carpenter and 35-year member of the Carpenters Union Local #1159, Pt. Pleasant WV.  He was a former member of the Cottageville Volunteer Fire Department, and he was an outdoorsman and enjoyed the mountains and motorcycling.  Mike was a Christian for 47 years and he attended the North United Methodist Church, Ravenswood.  In addition to his parents, other survivors include his wife, Vickie Kaye (Johnson) Durst; sister, Sandra Kay Staats (Steve) of Sandyville WV; nephew, Joey Staats (Melissa) of Knoxville  TN; niece, Leah Staats (fiance, M. G.) of Sandyville WV.  Vickie's son, Mark Parsons Justice (Barrett) of Charleston; daughter-in-law, Tara Heilman Parsons of Evans; grandchildren, Isabella and Markus; mother-in-law, Carolyn Sanborn of Ravenswood; brother-in-law, Carl Brian Johnson (Gena) of Nelsonville OH, and their children, Jennifer, Wendy, and Megan, all of Nelsonville.      Service was 7 p.m. Monday, October 13, 2014, at Casto Funeral Home Chapel, Evans WV with Pastor Mark Price officiating.  Visitation was from 5 p.m. until time of service.  Private interment will be in Blaine Memorial Cemetery, Cottageville.  In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred to the David Lee Cancer Center, 3100 MacCorkle Avenue SE #101, Charleston WV  25304  Email condolences may be sent to castofh@gmail.com.
