  <p>Information: Ethel Mae Durst, 78 of Cottageville departed this life August 14, 2004 following an exended illness.  She was born January 5, 1926 in Mount Alto, a daughter of the late Roy J. and Bertha Isabelle Pickens Friend.  She was a homemaker, a Protestant and a former nurse&#39;s aide for Arthur B. Hodges in Charleston.  Survivors include her daughters, Barbara Jean Winter of Millwood, Wanda Mae Shinn of Mount Alto and Diana Lynn McDowell of Evans; brother, Kenneth Friend of Mount Alto; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Dale Dayton ""Jack"" Durst; son, Dayton Eugene Durst; brother, Robert and sister, Beryl Miller.  A service will be held today at Casto Funeral Home, Evans with Pastor Mark Price officiating.  Burial will follow in Jackson County Memory Gardens, Cottageville.</p>
