Information: The Rev. D. M. Dorsey, retired Baptist minister and pastor of the Main Street Baptist Church in Point Pleasant for many years, died at his home in Ripley, Friday. Mr. Dorsey, 76, entered the ministry at the first Baptist Church in Welch, where he served for 18 years. He served as pastor of the Immanuel Baptist Church in Charleston, and in Baptist churches in Point Pleasant, Salem, Beckley, Richwood, Sistersville, Lubeck, Gauley Bridge and Kanawha City. A veteran of World War I, the minister was twice chaplain of the American Legion and served as chaplain of the 40 & 8 and the VFW of West Virginia. He was former commander of the McDowell County American Legion. Mr. Dorsey had 37 years perfect attendance as a Rotarian and was district governor of Rotary International for West Virginia. He was past president of the West Virginia Baptist Convention; the minister was manager of the West Virginia Baptist Boys Camp; he was a member of the Council of Churches and a member of the Board of Governors of Alderson Broaddus College. He served as director of the Morris Memorial Crippled Childrens Hospital at Milton and was active in Boy Scout work. Surviving are his widow Matsie; sons, Daniel M., of Clarksburg, Donald of Iowa City, Iowa and William of Marietta, Ohio; daughter, Mrs. Helen Weber of St. Marys and sisters, Mrs. C. A. McClung of St. Albans; Mrs. Georgia Branham of Washington, D.C., Mrs. Herman Woolsey and Mrs. John Bryant, both a South Charleston. Services will be at 2 p.m., Sunday, at the Epworth United Methodist Church, Ripley. Burial will be at the Fairplain Cemetery, Jackson County. The body will be taken to the church one hour before the service. Friends may call at Parsons Funeral Home, Ripley, after noon today.
