  <p>Information: Funeral services for Mrs. J. H. Ashby were held last Saturday and were attended by a large number of people in the White Oak section of Jackson County where the deceased spent the greater part of her life.  She died Thursday at the age of 78 years.  Paulina Harris Ashby was born June 19, 1857, departed this life Sept. 19, 1935, age 78 years, 3 months.  United in marriage to J. H. Ashby in 1874 and to this union were born nine children:  G. W. Ashby of Island Branch; M. M. Ashby of Charleston; L. M. Ashby of Cicerone (Roane Co.);  Mamie Jones of Comfort; Laura Parsons of Charleston;  Hallie Raines of Kenna; Mary Etta Parsons of Advent; Nancy Parsons of Prenter;  Lorena Ashby, deceased in infancy.     (from the Betty Kessel McIntyre collection)</p>
