Information: Services will be held today at 2 p.m. at the Stumptown Baptist Church for James A. DeWees, 87, who died Tuesday night at his home near Stumptown, Gilmer County. Born in Jackson County, son of the late Benjamin and Elizabeth McDade DeWees, he was a member of the Sycamore Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He was a native of Cottageville. In later years, he was a member of the Steer Run Baptist Church. He was a retired building contractor and farmer. His wife, Mrs. Florescy Bourne DeWees, preceded him in death. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Arlena Hall, Tuscon, Arizona and Mary DeWees of Morgantown; one son, Harry B. DeWees, Stumptown; six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. The Rev. B. O. VanHorn and the Rev. Rodney Minney will conduct the services and burial will be in the Broyles Cemetery, near Mt. Zion. Friends may call at the Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, until l p.m. Friday.
