Information: John C. Devore, 85, of 904 Pike Street, died Saturday at Camden Clark Hospital, following an extended illness. Born in Sandyville, Jackson County, he was the son of the late Adam and Rose McCauley DeVore. He has been a resident of Parkersburg since 1942 and was a retired employee of the Mountain State Steel Foundry. Mr. DeVore was a member of F.O.P. at Beaver, Pennsylvania, where he was a member of the Police Department for a number of years. He, also, was a member of the Steel Workers Union and the Gospel Mission of 14th Avenue. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Rose Wyer DeVore, a daughter, Mrs. Marcus (Geraldine) Doyle of Parkersburg; three sons, Jack and Joseph of Parkersburg and James of Lubeck; 17 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; a brother, William of Washington, Pennsylvania and four sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Aul of Rochester, Pennsylvania, Mrs. Mary Smaltz of Washington, Pennsylvania, Mrs. Lulu Winters of New Castle, Pennsylvania and Mrs. Violet McCune of Rochester, Pennsylvania; two daughter by a previous marriage; Mrs. Florence Bennett of Canton, Ohio and Mrs. Anna Sweatz of Ann Arbor, Michigan; several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were two brothers and two sisters. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Franklin and Son Memorial Chapel on Camden Avenue, with the Rev. W. K. Westfall officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral chapel from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
