Information: DEREY RITES AT OTTERBEIN Well Known Teacher Succumbs After A Long Illness Funeral services for Mrs. Minnie Derey, wife of Clifford Derey of Ripley, were held from the Ripley United Brethren church Saturday afternoon with the Rev. L. R. Mahoney in charge and the body was taken to the Otterbein cemetery for burial. Mrs. Derey, who was well known as one of the outstanding school teachers and church workers of the county, died at her Ripley home on Wednesday morning after an illness of several months caused from cancer. She entered a hospital early in the year and at that time members of her family were told that there was little chance for her recovery. She resigned her school at the time but until just a few days before her death had hopes of recovering and returning to the profession which she loved so well and in which she had been very successful. Mrs. Derey is survived by the husband, Clifford C. Derey; one son, Emil; one brother, Elmer McMurray of Silverton and the following sisters, Gertrude McMurray of Silverton, Mrs. Thelma Beymer of Parkersburg, Mrs. Dessie Bourgeois of Ravesnwood and Mrs. Lelia Salser of Texas.
