Information: In memorium - Isiah Vernon ""I. V."" Cunningham, Sr., former owner of Mountain State Construction and numerous other entities, died October 6, 1998 in Kanawha County, West Virginia, after a long illness.  Cunningham was born in Beaver, Pa. on December 5, 1908; he was 89 years old. He was one of eight children born to Marguerita Helena Sayre and Charles Carl Cunningham.  Cunningham started as a trainee in the West Virginia State Road Commission.  He later became an inspector for the Road Commission and moved on to the job of superintendent for a contracting firm, then entered business as a subcontractor and finally a full contractor.  After 38 years of experience in the construction industry, he became president of Mountain State Construction.      Cunningham was involved in construction projects in many locations in the United States.  These projects included bridges, tunnels, docks, cofferdams, water and waste treatment plants and all phases of construction in Columbus, Ohio, Newark, Ohio, Schenectady, New York and St. Thomas.  His local project of a $10,000,000.00 network of tunnels under the streets of Charleston are still in use today.  Also in use is a 35-foot diameter diversion tunnel, which is one of the largest full circle diversion tunnels in the world, it is part of the Summersville Lake and Dam, providing flood control for the Kanawha Valley.  Cunningham was also involved in construction of the Interchange in Wheeling of Interstate 70, the St. Albans-Nitro bridge and the North Charleston water treatment plant.      Surviving:  wife, Joyce Cunningham; son, I. V. Cunningham, Jr. of Milton; daughter, Glendora Davis of Kansas City, Kan.; five grandchildren; step-daughter, Shawn Bibbee; one step-grandson; two step-great-granddaughters.  Service will be at Barlow-Bonsall Funeral Home on Oct. 9, 1998, at 1 p.m. with Pastor Rick Carey offficiating.  Burial will be in the family cemetery in Evans, W.
