Information: Harold Lee Cowgar, 92, of Ravenswood, passed away Saturday, April 14, 2012 at Eagle Pointe Nursing Home. He was born June 30, 1919 in Hacker Valley WV, a son to the late J. D. and Melvina Vance Cowgar. He graduated from Webster Springs High School and then went on to graduate from Potomac State College. Following school he worked for B & O Railroad before retiring from Kaiser Aluminum after 25 years. He enjoyed gardening, and devoted much of his life to being a genealogist, and was very educated in historical facts and dates from U. S. history. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge for over 50 years. He also enjoyed antiques, traveling, reading, cooking, and was a Protestant by faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby M. Cowgar, an infant daughter, brothers, Clyde Cowgar and Wayman Cowgar, and sisters, Wilma Crawford and Mattie Luikart. He is survived by his son, Steven Cowgar and his wife Sheila of Grove City OH; daughter, Karen Leach and her husband Robin of Woodsfield OH; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and a nephew. Service will be Tuesday, April 17, 2012, 2 pm at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 1 pm until time of service on Tuesday.
