Information: RIPLEY - Thomas H. Counts, 101, of Ripley, died Jan. 1, 1997, in Jackson General Hospital after a short illness. He was the last surviving Jackson County World War I Army veteran. He was a farmer, contributed property for the first Goshen Church, a fiddle player, a member of IOOF, VFW Post 5501, Ripley, and American Legion Post 107, Ripley. Surviving: sons, Huey of Salina, Kan., Zane of St. Albans; daughters, Phyllis Conway, Gwendolyn ""Squint"" Lewis, Claudette Hicks, and Zalithea ""Zip"" Walters, all of Ripley, Sandy Saslaw of Seabrook, Md.; sister, Bernice Roberts of Waltersboro, S. C.; 30 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild. Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Parsons-Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley, with the Rev. Orville Walker officiating. Burial, with military graveside rites by Ravenswood VFW, will be in Counts cemetery, Kentuck. Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
