Information: DEATH CLAIMS A. B. CORBIN - A. B. Corbin, aged 76, died at his home at Kenna Friday of last week. Funeral services were held at the Fairplain church Sunday. Burial was made in the Fairplain cemetery with Rev. J. R. Withrow, assisted by Rev. T. L. Miles of Dunbar, conducting services. Mr. Corbin was one of the well known citizens of the county. He was a man of unusual intelligence, an extensive reader and a student of governmental matters. Noted as a man of integrity and high purpose, Mr. Corbin's ideals of life were very commendable. He sought the things that made for the best of the country. He was the owner of a large farm. He used his farm for the breeding of fine stock rather than the accumulation of large numbers. Mr. Corbin was a man worthwhile, whose life could well be emulated by all who knew him. A. B. Corbin, son of Oliver P. and Mary Corbin, was born in Harrison county, then Virginia, Feb. 1. 1858, and departed this March 17, 1934, age 76 years, 1 month and 16 days. He came with his parents to Jackson county when he was nine months old and settled at the place where he has since resided. He was a member of one of the large pioneer families of the county and spent his boyhood on the farm. In his early manhood he became a teacher in the public schools, but later in life he became a farmer and stockman. He was an excellent farmer but it was in the field of livestock that he excelled. He was a good judge of livestock and kept his farm stocked with one of the best herds of purebred Hereford cattle in the state. On Jan. 17, 1898, he was married to Miss Jessie Board. There being no children to this union, he became foster father to ten orphan children that he and his good wife reared in their home. Mrs. Lillie Skeen, Wallace Stover and Violet Dunbars, three of the children he reared and cared for, helped to care for him in his last illness. Mr. Corbin was a member of the M. E. Church, South at Ripley and an Odd Fellow. He is survived by his widow and the following brothers and sisters, namely: G. A. Corbin of Hume, Mo., Dr. A. S. Corbin of Tennessee City, Tenn., J. D. Corbin of Kenna, C. M. Corbin of Dunbar, Mrs. M. C. Woods of Clarksburg, Mrs. Alice Maddox of Kenna, Mrs. J. H. G. Winter of Fairplain, Mrs. J. M. Kay of Ripley, Mrs. D. E. Kessel and Mrs. E. D. Kessel of Ripley, route one.
