Information: Funeral services for Valentine Cooper, Grant district's oldest resident, were held from the Lockhart church Thursday afternoon and burial was in the Red Brush cemetery. He was 93 years old and passed peacefully to his reward Wednesday morning at the home of his son, C. D. Cooper, where he had made his home for a number of years. Mr. Cooper, son of Job and Catherine Cooper, was born Feb 11, 1847 in Noble County, Ohio and died Sept 11, 1940, age 93 years and seven months. On March 4, 1869 he was united in marriage to Jane Ellen Hart. When they were married they, like many other young married couples in that county, came to Jackson county to carve their home out of the wilderness. The annual Cooper reunion which has been held for the past several years in honor of ""Uncle Val"" was to have been held Sunday but earlier in the week it became apparent his condition was rapidly becoming worse and the meeting was postponed. a meeting which he would never have lived to attend. His wife and two daughter preceded him in death. He is survived by the following children: Mrs. W. C. (Rose) Andrews and Mrs. Elisha (Leona) Farley of Parkersburg, Mrs. T. L. (Sarah) Farley of Sandyville, Mrs. Elisha (Lydia) Archer of Ravenswood, and one son, C. D. Cooper of Sandyville.
