Information: RIPLEY MAN IS TAKEN SUDDENLY - Clarence Archer, 78-year old retired employee of the United Fuel Gas Company, dropped dead at his home in Ripley on Monday evening of a heart attack.  He had been suffering from heart disease for the past year, but his death came suddenly and without warning.  He was born at Gay on April 6, 1878, a son of McGarey and Sarah Aplin Archer, pioneer residents of that section of the county. He married Bertha L. Williams and they lived in Ripley for many years where he was the local representative of the United Fuel Gas Company until his retirement. Survivors include a son, Ray Archer of Ripley and one brother, McKinley Archer.  The funeral service will be conducted from the Vail funeral home this (Wednesday) afternoon with Rev. J. W. Burch of the Baptist Temple officiating and the burial will be in the Pine Hill cemetery.
