Information: Funeral services for Rev. Arley F. Clendenin, 77 of 218 Westwood Dr., Beckley, were held in the First Methodist Church with Dr. Wayne Ransom of Huntington and Rev. Edward Hanshaw in charge.  Burial was in Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery.  Rev. Clendenin, a retired Methodist minister, died at his residence at 3 p.m. Sunday of an apparent heart attack.  Born in Jackson County on Jan. 3, 1889, a son of the late William and Caroline Carney Clendenin, he was married to the former Carrie Harvey in 1922.  She survives him at home.  He was a member of the West Virginia Methodist Conference, serving the southern part of the state throughout his ministry.  In addition to serving as a pastor, he was an evangelist during the early part of his ministry and retired in 1957.  Surviving besides his wife is a daughter, Mrs. E. D. (Janice) Gibson of Chesapeake, Ohio; a brother, Dexter C. of Sissonville; and one grandchild.
