Information: Adam C. Cleek, son of George W. and Bridget Cleek, was born near Fletcher, W. Va., April 29, 1855, where he lived with his father until he united in marriage to Virginia B. Greene, January 23rd, 1881, after which they made their home on Stone Lick until their death. His wife having preceded him to the Great Beyond October 27th, 1907. To this union were born six children, four of whom survive, Otis Cleek and Mrs. Ora Gandee of Kenna; Mrs Riddie Good and Ima Kiser, of Charleston. Two children having died in infancy, being also survived by one sister, Mrs. Peter Skeen of Kentuck. He was a firm father and loved by all who knew him. He was a firm believer in christianity, became a member of the Missionary Baptist church in early boyhood and lived a devoted christian life unto the end. His last words were ""I shall stand in that great and judgement day with my Savior and the Holy Angels when the great trumpet sounds."" He was stricken with pneumonia fever but only able to fight the battle a few days, the end being met in peace, February 14th, 1923. Funeral services were conducted February 16th at the Stone Lick M. E. Church by Rev. Jack Slawter of the Missionary Baptist church and he was laid to rest in the Gandee cemetery to await the resurrection morning. X.
