Information: Mr. Ephriam Chidester died at his late residence in Ravenswood, Jackson County, West Virginia, on Saturday evening, May 27, 1876. The funeral services were held at the house on Monday morning the 29th, and were conducted by Rev. Mr. Cotton of the South Church, and Mr. Powell of the Baptist Church. A very large number of our citizens from the town and its surroundings were present at the house, and also the cemetery. Mr. Chidester was born in Washington county, Pennsylvania, January 28, 1798, and was at the time of his death more than 78 years of age. Mr. C. was twice married. His first wife was Miss Mary Gilchust and his second Miss Mary A. Kerr, he survived both by ........years. Mr. Chidester leaves seven children to mourn his loss, nearly all of whom were present at the funeral. Mr. C. had been a resident of Ravenswood about 24 years and was widely known and highly esteemed. He suffered much pain in his last illness but was much resigned. He often expressed a desire to depart that he might be at rest. For many years he had been a consistent member of the Presbyterian church in this place. The family have the united sympathies of the people. One of his last requests was that his children should all meet him in Heaven.
