Information: Rev. William Casto, age 70 years, of Leon, Route 1, passed away at the Gallipolis Medical Center Hospital Thursday, February 2nd after a short illness. Mr. Casto was a retired minister and substitute teacher in Mason County. He was born March 18, 1896 at Rockcastle, a son of the late J. G. and Ernestine Barnett Casto. During the 42 years in the ministry, he served various charges with 10 years served in a Fairmont charge and 10 years with Poca and Buffalo churches. He was also adult Sunday School class teacher at the Creston E.U.B. Church. He was loved and respected by all who knew him and at anytime would rather give than receive. He will be sadly missed by his community where he had lived the past five years, as well as in the home and other sections where he had many friends. Survivors include his wife, Leona Baker Casto; three sons, William D. of Memphis, Tenn., Larus D. of Poca and Bruce C. of North Brook, Ill.; one daughter, Mrs. Virginia M. Beatty of Chicago, Ill.; 13 grandchildren; 1 great-grandson; five brothers, O. H. and Camden of Ripley, Talmage of Circleville, Ohio, John, Akron, Ohio; three sisters, Mrs. Georgia Parsons, Red House, Mrs. Hattie Casto, Hometown and Mrs. Leona Sturm of Charleston. Funeral services were held on Sunday, Feb. 5th at 1:30 p.m. at the Buffalo Church. Additional services were held at 4 p.m. at Creston Church. Officiating ministers were Rev. Henry High, Rev. L. H. Underwood and Rev. Gerald Sayre. He was laid to rest in the Creston Cemetery.
