Information: Thomas Franklin Casto, son of J. R. and Ruth Casto, was born near Given, Jackson County, 7 Nov 1859, departed this life at his home on Jim Ridge near Moss Chapel Church on 9 May 1944, age 84-6-2.  Early in life he was united in marriage to Jemimah Kessel, and to this union five children were born:  Marvin and Thurman Casto of Dunbar, Mrs. Lucy Hunter of Dunbar, Kenna Casto of Bidwell, Ohio and Mrs Elmyra Bowles, deceased.  His companion being deceased, he again united in marriage to Virginia Belle Kessel and to this union six children were born:  Wade L. Casto of Given, Rev. Luther L. Casto of Valley Head, WV, Okey C., Parvin O. and Cleophus R. Casto, all of Dunbar, and Mrs. Oda Painter of Given.  He leaves to mourn their loss, his companion, Virginia Belle Casto, the above enumerated children, 63 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Sallie Mitchell of East Liverpool, Ohio, Mrs. Cora Stewart of Ripley and Mrs. Mollie Unrue of Dunbar; an army of other relatives and a host of friends. More than half a century ago he accepted Christ as his personal Saviour, casting his lot with the Southern Methodist church and lived a faithful Christian until the end.  Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Evans, of Ripley, at Moss Chapel on Friday, May 12, and his body was laid to rest in the Moss Chapel Cemetery.
