Information: CIVIC LEADER LUM ANGUS DIES AFTER EXTENDED ILLNESS - RIPLEY - Long-time Jackson County civic leader, Edward ""Lum"" Angus, died early Tuesday morning at Jackson General Hospital after an extended illness.  Angus (68) was a former mayor and city councilman in Ripley.  He had also been active with the Ripley Volunteer Fire Department, Auxiliary Chief of the Ripley Police Department, V.F.W. Post 5501, Ripley American Legion Post, and the Jackson County Selective Service Board.  A retired Steelworker and member of USWA Local 5668, Angus was a World War II veteran.  Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-7 p.m. today (Wednesday) at Vail Funeral Home and from 12-1 p.m. Thursday at the Ripley Tabernacle.  The funeral will be at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Bob Hodges and the Rev. Lawrence Conger, Jr. officiating.  Burial will be at Drift Run Cemetery in Sandyville.  Angus, who was born in Belleville, is survived by his wife, Dortha Lee Tolley Angus.  He was the son of Mabel Angus of Ravenswood and the late Willie G. Angus.  He is also survived by daughters, Brenda Hunt of Ripley, Jean Matheny of New Castle, PA, Benita Comer of Ravenswood, Edwina Waybright of Ripley and Denita Dale of Ravenswood; brothers, Elmer Angus of Milton and Seldon Angus of Sandyville; sisters, Barbara Wallace of Milton, Dorothy Riggs of Sandyville and Helen Dillon of Ripley; grandchildren, Brett and Benjie Hunt, Scott and Tina Matheny, Cole and Cara Waybright, Josh Angus, Jeremy and Joey Comer.
