Information: Myrtle Kessel Casto was born September 15, 1878 and died November 20, 1939, aged 61 years, 2 months and 5 days.  She was one of the fourteen children of James M. and Flora J. Kessel.  On April 30, 1899, she was united in marriage to G. W. Casto.  Three sons and one daughter were born to this marriage.  Their names are Harlan of Parkersburg, Willard of Charleston, Raymond of Willow Grove and Hazel, at home.  She also had a foster son, Earl Trigg, at home.  Besides her husband and children, she left surviving her four brothers:  D. E. Kessel and C. R. Kessel of Ripley, E. D. Kessel of Parchment, and Dr. J. E. Kessel of Des Moines, Iowa; seven sisters:  Mrs. Dora Pinnell, Mrs. S. B. Sayre, Mrs. O. P. Davis, and Mrs. J. M. Bibbee of Ripley, Mrs. Laura French of Parchment, Mrs. H. E. Lewis of Buffalo, West Virginia and Mrs. J. J Frey of Logan, West Virginia; and four grandchildren. A brother O. V. Kessel and a sister, Mrs. Ida Parsons, preceded her in death.  In early life she became a member of the Methodist church and was always active and interested in church work.  She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and attended the meetings whenever she could.  She was also president of the Mill Creek Valley Farm Woman's Club of Evans for ten years and spent much time working in the club.  She attended the annual State Farm Woman's camp at Jackson's Mills for nine consecutive summers and was making preparations to attend her tenth camp when her last illness prevented her from going.  Just a few days before the camp opened she was taken to the hospital and was never able to return to her home.  Had she been able to attend this camp, she would have received an award which she coveted very much.  She often talked about how she would like to have attended her tenth camp and received this recognition. * Three poems follow.
