Information: Lafe Casto, well known farmer of Staats Mills, died at his home there last Wednesday on his fifty-ninth birthday after an illness of some length caused by complications of the disease. The funeral services were held at the Siniaville church Friday morning, Rev. Vairl Winters in charge and burial was in the church cemetery. The Vail Mortuary of Ripley, W. Va. had charge of funeral arrangements. Mr. Casto, a son of Earl and Margaret Casto, was born near Staats Mills, Jackson County, on 17 Feb 1884, died 17 Feb 1943, aged 59 years. He was united in marriage to Stella Skeen on 21 Oct 1910, and to this union were born eight children, all of whom survive. They are: Mrs. Howard Hatcher of Akron, Ohio, Cpl. Delmer D. Casto of Bolixi, Miss., Mrs. Criss Winter of Fairplain, Darrell, Glenva, Edra, Dexter, and Imogene, all at home. He is survived by three grandchildren and three brothers, Elzie E. of Ripley, Early of Staats Mills, and Rader Casto of Gay. One brother and two sisters preceded him in death. (McIntyre)
