Information: James Owens Casto, 89, of Ripley, died February 24, 1995 at Jackson General Hospital, Ripley after an extended illness.  He was born in Evans, WV, a son of the late James Thomas and Minnie Samana Reynolds Casto.  He was a building contractor, having built several homes, commercial buildings and churches in Ripley, Point Pleasant and Middleport, Ohio where he owned and operated a lumber yard. He sold the lumber yard and went to Florida where he owned the Look and See Mobile Home Trailer Court.  Having sold the trailer court he came back to his native West Virginia, living in Ripley until his health failed and he had been a patient at Ravenswood Care Center for over 2 ½ years.  Owens was converted several years ago and often talked about his being saved and how he always read his Bible. He was the bass singer in the Ripley Quartet for several years.  He is survived by four sisters, Freeda Pringle of St. Albans, Marie Mose of East Liverpool, OH, Virginia Sayre and Geraldine Parsons, both of Evans; several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by one son, Norman Casto of Parkersburg and two brothers, Archie Casto of Evans, George Casto of Charles Town; one sister Permelia Cox of Middleport, OH.  Funeral services were Sunday at Casto Funeral Home, Evans, the Rev. Gerald Sayre officiating.  Entombment in Otterbein Cemetery. Evans.
