Information: GERTHA CASTO RITES MONDAY - Funeral services were held Monday morning for Mrs. Gertha Casto, 65, a Ripley native, at the Christ Episcopal Church in Pt. Pleasant, with Father Clifford E. Shane officiating.  Interment followed at the Fairplain Cemetery near Ripley.  Graveyard services were conducted by the Ripley Chapter of the Eastern Stars.  Mrs. Casto died Friday afternoon at the Holzer Medical Center following a long illness.  She had been hospitalized since August.  A retired school teacher, she had taught for a period of 38 years in Jackson county and three years in Mason county.  She had resided with her son Attorney Carroll W. Casto and family in recent years.  Mrs. Casto was a graduate of Morris Harvey College and earned her Masters Degree at Marshall University. She was a member of the Pt. Pleasant Branch of American Association of University Women, was Past Worthy Matron of Ripley Chapter Order of Eastern Star, and was a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Pt. Pleasant.  Born at Staats Mill, West Virginia, she was the daughter of  the late Elijah and Artimisha Scarberry Tolley.  She is survived by one son, Attorney Carroll Casto, Pt. Pleasant, one brother, Denver Tolley, Fredricksburg, Virginia, one sister, Mrs. Opal Rice, Pt. Pleasant, and two grandsons, Berry and Gregg.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Denny Casto, exactly 18 years to the day of his death.
