Information: Shortly before noon Tuesday, Benjamin G. Casto, 89, a former mayor of Vinton and a native of West Virginia died at his home in the village of Vinton. Casto was born in Jackson County, W. Va, on June 18, 1868, the son of the late Joseph and Moriah Morrison Casto. One brother James (Doc) Casto of Leon, survives. His first wife, the former Sarah Beller, preceded him in death in 1945. The Castos came to Vinton in 1916 where he in later years operated a real estate agency. For a number of years Casto srved as mayor of the village. He was a member of the Vinton Methodist Church. In 1946, Casto remarried and his wife, the former Bertha Carper, survives. Four sons and four daughters survive: Granville, Charlie, Mrs. Ethel Newman, and Mrs. Marie Bauer, all of Vinton; Mrs. Irene Daudelin of California, John of Flint, Mich., Clarence of Cleveland and Mrs. Dare Diggins of Miami, Fla. One daughter, Mrs. Clyde (Grace) Edmiston of Vinton preceded him in death in 1952. Funeral arrangements will be announced by the Vernon McCoy Funeral Home of Vinton later.
