Information: John Carter died at his home in Union district on Tuesday of infirmities incident to old age, age 78 years.  Mr. Carter is survived by his wife, five children, and one brother, Thomas Carter of Reedy, W. Va. Interment in the Douglas Cemetery Thursday morning, Rev. J. L. West officiating.  (McIntyre)
