Information: Mrs. Effie Hicks, 73, of Spencer died in Jackson General Hospital, Ripley, after a brief illness.  Born in Roane County, she was a daughter of the late Elwood (Bub) and Sarah Nichols Stalnaker.  She had attended the Alexander Baptist Church.  Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Bonnie Lee of Cleveland, O., and Mrs Aline McDonald of Spencer; three sons, Elwood McCormick of Delbarton, Ernest of Mansfield, O., and Clyde of Gassaway; 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Glennie Hicks.  Burial was in the Hicks Cemetery near Spencer.
