Information: Funeral services for Mrs. Cora Carson, 80 years old, were held from the Carson home on North Street in Ripley Sunday afternoon with Rev. R. L. Mahoney in charge, assisted by Rev. John J. Loudin. Burial was in the Pine Hill cemetery. Mrs. Carson died in a Huntington hospital on Thursday of last week where she had been a patient for some time. She was the widow of the late A. M. Carson and spent many years of her life in Ripley, coming here when a young woman with her late husband who launched what proved to be a highly successful career in the mercantile world. Cordelia (known as Cora) Lasher Carson, daughter of M. V. and Laura Lasher, was born at Racine, Ohio, Oct. 8, 1857. She departed this life Feb. 13, 1941, age 83 years, 4 months and 5 days. On Sept. 19, 1875, she was united in marriage with A. M. Carson, who preceded her in death. To this union were born two children, Mrs. C. C. Staats, of Ripley, and Doctor Waid E. Carson, of Pittsburgh, Pa. In addition to her son and daughter, Mrs. Carson is survived by three grandchildren, Theo Staats Maddox, Enoch Dwight Staats, and Wallace Waid Staats, and two great-grandchildren, Max Edwin Maddox and Robert Carson Maddox.
