  <p>Information: Funeral services will be held today at 2 p.m. at the Parsons Funeral Home Chapel, Ripley, for Thomas Edward Carper, 88, of Gay, Jackson County, who died Sunday evening in St. Joseph&#39;s Hospital following an extended illness.  Pastor R. H. Shepard will officiate with burial to be in Evans Cemetery near Gay.  The son of the late Mrs. and Mrs. Oscar Carper, he was a retired pharmacist, having owned and operated the Carper Drug Store in Charleston for many years.  Mr. Carper was a 32d degree Shriner and had recently received his 50  year pin from the Masonic Lodge.  He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.  Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Iva Cobb Carper of Gay; two daughters, Mrs. Virginia Vivian Arnette of New York, Mrs. Cheryl Scott of Gay; three grandchildren. Friends may call at the funeral home.   </p>
