  <p>Information: RIPLEY - Ira A. ""Jigs"" Carney, 77, of Ripley, died Nov. 21, 1998, in Jackson General Hospital, Ripley, after a long illness.  He was a retired meter reader from Columbia Gas with 35 years&#39; service, an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II and attended Brisco Church.  Surviving:  wife, Annabelle Fields Carney; sons, Kenneth and Greg, both of Ripley; Steve of Gay; daughters, Diane Knopp of Ripley, Darlene Carney of Cross Lanes, Deena Scarbrough of Surfside Beach, S. C.; sister, Edith Lyon of Ripley; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.  Service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Parsons-Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley, with the Rev. Arnold Conant officiating.  Burial will be in Fairplain Cemetery.  Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.</p>
