  <p>Information: GIVEN - Earnest Darrell Carney, 85, of Given, passed away from an extended illness on September 17, 2009, at Jackson General Hospital, Ripley.  He was born on May 25, 1924, at Jim Ridge, a son of the late Jess and Linnie Hill Carney.  He was a member of the Moss Chapel Church.  He retired from construction with Laborers Union Local 1085 and was a farmer.  He loved to take care of his horses and work on the farm.  He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Dorothy Faber Carney; sons Richard and Randy Carney of Given; and daughter Cynthia Sue Carney of Ravenswood and Brenda and Tracy Sargent of Columbus.  Funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 20, at the Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley, with the Rev. Creel Kerns officiating. Burial will be in the Moss Chapel Cemetery, Given.  Friends called from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday, September 19, at the funeral home.</p>
