  <p>Information: Daniel Carl, who died at his home Friday, February 3, was born on the 9th day of July, 1841, in Meigs County, Ohio.  He was 80 years, 6 months, and 24 days old.  Mr. Carl joined the Union Army at the age of 21 and gave two years of his life in the defense of his country.  He was united in marriage to Miss Eliza Brown of Ohio.  To this union were born nine children.  Six children and the mother preceded the father to their reward.  The children that are living are:  Mrs. Callie Golden of Letonia, Ohio, Mrs. Christenia Tribett of Silverton and Mrs. G. B. Casto of Ripley.  Funeral services were conducted by Rev. A. M. Payne after which the body was laid to rest in the old Ripley Cemetery.  (from the Betty Kessel McIntyre collection)</p>
