Obituary Date: 1918-11-01

Information: CAREZ - A very sad accident occurred on Tuesday, October 8th, when a team owned by Frank Carez became frightened and ran away, his daughter, Hazel, who was with him was thrown from the wagon and fatally injured.  She was carried by her father to the home of her grand-father, Joseph Carez.  Dr. Starkey of Ravenswood and Dr. Bachtel of Wilding were immediately summoned, but all was in vain.  In just a few hours she passed from this life to the great beyond.      Hazel Josephine Carez was born Februay 8, 1907, and took her departure from all that was mortal October 9, 1918, aged 9 years, 8 months and 1 day.  She is survived by father, mother and one sister.  Her death, which came as a shock, has cast a gloom over the entire community.  Hazel was a bright, ambitious little girl, the pride of the home.  She will be greatly missed in the home and by her friends and little playmates.  The remains were laid to rest in the Pleasant Ridge cemetery witnessed by a large congregation.  Services were conducted by Rev. S. K. Somerville, whose remarks were appropriate and consoling.  To the bereaved family we extend our heartfelt sympathy.  Considering the pure life of a little child we can but say she is not dead, but away for the night awaiting the joy that cometh in the morning. X.
