Information: Funeral rites for Roscoe H. Carder, 85, of Elkins, a well-known educator and public accountant there, who died Saturday, will be held today at 2 p.m. at the Coleman Chapel United Methodist Church. The Rev William Sullivan and the Rev. Norman Butler will officiate and interment will be in the Coleman Chapel Cemetery. He was born April 1, 1888, at Murraysville, Jackson County, son of the late Zachariah Patton and Laura Elizabeth Steed Carder and had attended school in Jackson County. He was graduated from Marietta Commercial College and Bowling Green Business University and received his Masters degree from the University of Kentucky. He later completed graduate studies at Ohio University. He was affiliated with several colleges including Mountain State College of Parkersburg. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Mary Lenore Polk Carder; one son and three daughters, Roscoe Earl Carder of Vienna, Mrs. L. P. (Jayne) Schumaker of Whiteland, Ind., Mrs. H. V. (Mary Frances) Skaggs of St. Louis, Mo., and Mrs. Carroll (Joan) Martin of Elkins; a brother, Nathan Goff Carder of Murraysville; a sister, Mrs. Addison Jackson of Ripley and 13 grandchildren.
