  <p>Information: Roy H. Canterbury, 86, of Loudon TN, formerly of Frame asnd Ripley WV, went peacefully to be with the Lord, at home, on Sunday, July 3, 2016 surrounded by his devoted wife, children and grandchildren.  In 1948 he proudly enlisted in the Army to defend our country. He served for 12 years and in that time, fought in the Korean War for which he was awarded 5 Battle Stars.  In 2001, fifty one years after being honorably discharged, he was chosen to be part of an Honor Flight to Washington DC with veterans from World War II and the Korean War.  A few years after leaving the military he opened Roy&#39;s Exxon in Frame and served his community until 1977.  He also worked with Tom Peden Dealership in Ripley for several years with his last position being service writer.        In 1977 Roy was called into the ministry and served as pastor in several churches, including Newton Baptist Church, the same church his father, Romie, had pastored 49 years earlier.  After moving to Tnnessee in 2003, he  continued to minister, occasionally delivering services at a local church. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, as well as farming and playing golf.  His favorite, by far, was playing golf with family and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Romie and Gertrude Mae (Chandler) Canterbury; son, Ronald Carl; brothers, Arbon, Walter, Pete, Louie, Dick, Ben, and Bob; sisters, Thelma, Ruby, Olive and Joyce.        Roy is survived by his wife of 64-and-a-half years, Anna Gaye (Randolph) Canterbury; daughters, Linda (Dale) Woods of Loudon TN, Karen (Tony) Taylor of Oneida TN; 4 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; brothers, Romie of Charleston WV, Fred of Ripley WV; sisters, Doris Fitzpatrick and Frankie Yateman of Cottageville WV and Connie Pauley of Gallipolis OH.  Funeral service will be held at Long & Fisher Funeral Home, Sissonville WV on Sunday, July 10 at 3 pm, with visitation one hour prior to the service.  A private burial will be held on Monday,July 11.  In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your local hospice.     </p>
