Information: CRYSTAL RIVER, FL - Clyde A. Canterbury, 78, a long time Ripley businessman, died in Crystal River, Florida, early Tuesday morning, after suffering a heart attack on Monday. Canterbury owned Canterbury Shoe Stores for many years in Ripley and Vienna. He was a charter member of the Ripley Volunteer Fire Department, a 50-year member of the Odd Fellow's Lodge and a World War II veteran. He is survived by his wife of more than 50 years, Geneva Mick Canterbury. Also surviving are daughters, Sue Moore of Ripley, Judy Beha of Ripley, Pat Milam of Kenna and Peggy Benson of Hagerstown, MD; sisters, Edna Payne of Seth and Ruth Mowery of South Charleston; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. A viewing was held in Florida Wednesday. Vail Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements in Ripley. Visitation will be Thursday with funeral services scheduled Friday. Burial will be in Jackson Memory Gardens.
