Obituary Date: 2008-12-31
Information: On December 26, 2008, our loving grandmother, Mabel Jane King Bush, 94, went peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior. She lived a life wrapped in the love of Jesus. She leaves her last witness of faith to you: know Jesus. Live, walk, trust and rest in Him. While our grandmother wished to be remembered only for her faith and witness, she was an amazing woman who we will remember for many things. She was a retired postmaster from the Mount Alto Post Office with 35 years of service. She was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church, the National League of Postmasters and Cottageville Chapter 16 Order of the Eastern Star. She marveled at God's creation during her extensive travels around the world and nurtured God's miracles through her love of gardening and farming. Our grandmother was born October 12, 1914, in Evans and was the oldest daughter of the late Samuel and Arkie Flowers King. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Bush; their son, Raymond Bush; his wife, Helen Miller Bush; her brothers, James ""Jump"" King and Blaine King; and her sisters, Mona Donohew and Jessie King. She leaves behind her four loving granddaughters and their families; Kim and Steve Flowler live in South Charleston and are the parents of Matthew Blake, Ryan Blake and Pierce Flowler; Becky and Greg Gibbs live in Hurricane and are the parents of Nicole and Rob Trimarche, Theron Gibbs and Michelle Gibbs and the grandparents of Dominic Trimarche; Marianna and Jim McHugh live in Mount Alto and are the parents of Daniel McHugh and Meredith McHugh; Melanie and Brian Purkey live in Ripley and are the parents of Jane Purkey and Shae Purkey. In addition to her granddaughters, she is survived by her sister, Grace Ball of New Haven; and her brothers, Sam King of Evans and Wayne King of Charleston, Tennessee. In honor of our grandmother's request, there will not be a funeral or memorial service. In lieu of flowers and food, donations are preferred to Hospice Care, 1606 Kanawha Blvd. W., Charleston, WV. Arrangements have been provided by Casto Funeral Home, Evans.
