Information:                   Funeral services were held at the Limestone Hill Methodist Church Sunday afternoon for Pfc. Francis Clyde Burton, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Burton of Windy, whose body arrived home from the Philippines Saturday afternoon.  The Rev. V. J. Lathey officiated at the service and the burial was in the church cemetery with the American Legion conducting graveside rites.  Pfc. Burton was killed in action July 25, 1945 on Mindanao in the Philippines.  He was born August 14, 1910 and was inducted into the service in 1943.  He was first assigned to the 24th Cavalry at Fort Riley, Kansas and was later transferred to Company A, 21st Infantry Regiment, and sent to the South Pacific.  Surviving in addition to his parents are a daughter, Geneva Burton of Parkersburg; four brothers, Charles Burton of Windy, Richard and Glen Burton, both of Parkersburg, and Edward Burton of San Antonio, Texas, and five sisters, Mrs. Gail Wine of Palestine, Mrs. Jessie Harbin of Sandyville, Mrs. Opal Thompson of Parkersburg, Mrs. Amy Johnson of Mineral Wells, and Mrs. Edith Allman of Rockport.  (Friday, 22 July 1949) Betty Kessel McIntyre obit collection
