Information: Opal Cook Burns, 79, of Kenna WV, passed away on October 10, 2011 at the Hubbard Hospice House in Charleston following a brief battle with cancer.  She was born on July 4, 1932 at Obapa WV in Clay County to the late Burl B. and Icie Harriet Griffith Cook.  Opal was retired from Carbon Fuel Company in Charleston WV.  She was a very active member of the Epworth United Methodist Church in Ripley.  She is survived by her brother, Lowell Cook, of Elkview; sisters, Oleta Aeiker of St. Albans, Alberta Ashley of Clendenin OH, Ann Monroe of Lady Lake FL, Ondra Wilson of Mineral Wells; and many nieces and nephews.  Opal was preceded in death by her husband, Ray K. Burns.  In addition to her parents, Opal was preceded in death by four brothers:  Leo, Lawrence, Lewis and Larry.  Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on October 15, 2011, at the Epworth United Methodist Church, 229 N. Church St., Ripley WV, with Reverend Teresa Deane officiating.  Entombment will follow at Cunningham Memorial Park and Chapel Mausoleum in St. Albans WV.  Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday evening at Waybright Funeral Home, 511 S. Church St., Ripley WV.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Opal's memory be made to Hubbard Hospice House, 101 Kennawa Drive, Charleston WV 25311-1824.
