  <p>Information: Velma Carnell Burdette, 93, of Kenna WV died Friday, August 18, 2000 at Eldercare of West Virginia, Ripley WV, following a long illness.  She was born September 5, 1906 at Meigs, Ohio, a daughter of the late John and Elisa Boggess Carnell.  She was a homemaker and a member of the Pleasant Grove Church, Romance WV.  She is survived by a daughter, Geraldine Glenn of Ripley WV and a sister, Mary Aultz, of Sissonville WV; 8 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Cecil Burdette, a son, Cecil Burdette, Jr.; four brothers and three sisters.  Funeral services were held Monday, August 21, at the Parsons-Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley WV with Rev. Gerald Ray officiating.  Burial was at the Burdette-Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Romance WV.  Friends called Sunday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.</p>
