Information: Elmer Huston Bullard, 87, of Kenna, passed away on January 19, 2013. He was born February 6, 1925, in Clay County, the son of Roy Lee an Lou Vena Salyers Bullard Campbell. Elmer was a proud U.S. Army veteran and a life member of the American Legion and VFW. He was inducted into the Army in June 1943 and received his basic training at Fort Knox, Ky., and advance infantryman training at Camp Chaffee, Ark. He was sent to Leharve, France, where he participated in the Battle of Rhineland and the Central European Campaign. He was awarded the following medals: Good Conduct Meal, Bronze Star, American Campaign, European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with two bronze stars, WWII Victory, German Occupation Ribbon, Jubilee of Liberty o France, Combat Infantryman Badge and the Presidential Unit Citation. He was honorably discharged in 1946. Elmer was retired from Kaiser Aluminum and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. In previous years, he enjoyed camping and fishing and holds several fish citation records. In addition to his parents, Elmer was preceded in death by his wife, Helen, who passed away three months and two days earlier; and brothers, Harold Lee and William Clarence Bullard. He is survived by his daughter, Kathy Martin and her husband, Danny, of Kenna; daughter, Karen Jack and her husband, David, of Kenna; granddaughter, Kellie Niewierowski and her husband, Chris, of St. Albans; grandson, Bronson Martin and his fiancee, Lauren McNally, of Charlotte, N.C.; great-grandchildren, Eden and Carter Niewierowski; sister, Beulah White of Ovapa; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Service will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 26, at Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley. A private burial will follow at Emma Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
